Hi Angela,
Since I have sent out the january sketchbook, I thought that I should share my first sketch with everyone as a sneak peek. January for me is always a quiet month where I find myself back in the studio after a very busy fall term teaching at the University. The sketch is part of what I call « Meditation series: the landscape ».
I can’t wait to receive the next sketchbook and continue this very interesting process!
Re book above, and referred to below:
– I would be interested to see images of the state of this book now, after a couple more months…anyone have it, or previous images? See below for the next iteration of this book, from Christian M in Norway.

Below also is a book that went from Beth to Gagan to Brew.
Here is the same book – Marie Claude wrote:
Hi Angie,
In your last message, you were wondering where one sketchbook was…it came from Ireland and it is now in Montreal, Canada! I have included a few photos to confirm. I got it in this week and getting ready to draw in it! It is very interesting since all first and last pages have been used leaving the center empty…I presented the photos as if we are reading from left to right…this leaves some pages upside down. Very interesting. I shall start there by carving a thick page to see what is hiding inside (last image)…
Best regards,

Hi Angela,
Thanks for the (2) books . I got them for to weeks ago. I saw you was discussing the notes made by Gagan on landscape, surfaces of drawing paper and line. This discussion gave me some inspiration to make drawings about these topics, working further with my own tematique.
The first topic is:
1) The concept of landscape is an invention. Landscape existe as created culture schema . Land is land land-scape is an “analogon”
I made one drawing inspired by Cezannes statement: The landscape thinks through me and I am its consciousness”
2)The seconde topic is “the line is a simulacrum” (Roland Barthes) i.e a form that resembles something like an object, but without having the significance of that to which it refers.
I made several drawings thinking about that.
I think i could send one or to of this drawings to the Exhibition in november. What do you think?
Se attachements.
Otherwise I made a blog with all the drawings I made from january.
Best regards
Christian
older iteration of the same book:
Hi Angie,
Here are the pictures that you request .( in the previous message). An instant in a non-verbal conversation with the previous writer who begin to cut into the drawing sheet and open 3D Space that I just continues to use in my selfportrait serie. Connected to this idea, as the frame is made of different pages, a thickness that I combine by overlaying different part of the head in the last drawings.
Best
Christian
June 1st:
Images from Katie, in book sent from Kiera:
May 2015: A book with work by Beth, Gagan and Brew. Sent on to Christian in Norway.
Hi Angie,
Since I have not received this month’s book yet, I thought I would send you a sample of the sketches done so far in the process…I find myself sometimes inspired by a circler’s drawing, sometimes by a circler’s writing or sometimes a bit lost…but here is a look so far, 1 drawing/month for the past 6 months.
Enjoy!
